His research interests are in the broader area of audio and speech signal processing:
Athanasios Mouchtaris received the Diploma degree in Electrical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in 1997 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, in 1999 and 2003, respectively. From 2003 to 2004 he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Electrical and Systems Engineering Department of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. From 2004 to 2009 he was a Visiting Professor in the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete and an Affiliated Researcher in the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH-ICS), Heraklion, Crete. Since 2009 he has been an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete, and an Affiliated Researcher in FORTH-ICS. His research interests include signal processing for immersive audio environments, spatial audio rendering, multichannel audio modeling, speech synthesis with emphasis on voice conversion, and speech enhancement. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 publications in various journal and conference proceedings in these areas. He has received grants from the European Commission and the Greek General Secretariat of Research and Technology.
